Next Stop: Goodsprings, NV

Whenever I ask people who are familiar with Las Vegas if they have ever heard or stopped by Goodsprings, Nevada, the most common answer I get is "No." Well why would they, considering it was known for nothing but a mining town back in about the 1900's? After WWII finished the mining community dwindled, and now, they say the population is a mere 200. I highly doubt that. It seems more like 50 and all 50 can be found at Pioneer Saloon!

My interest in Goodsprings, NV came about as I was searching for nearby ghostowns we could stop by on the way to Las Vegas. That was going to be my "adventure" for the trip. I ended up finding the Pioneer Saloon (above) and its story of why it was "haunted" and the fact that it is rumoured to be the oldest Saloon in NV (over 90 yrs. old) So me and my friend made our detour off the highway and wandered off into Goodsprings. Boy, were we wanderers. Curious, we stopped at the Saloon. We entered and there was nothing haunting about it except for the people inside whom acted and appeared as pirates that were taking a break from their journey at sea. Feeling out of place, we sped for the bathroom. After we caught our breath and asked eachother what the heck just happened out there, we quickly sped out to the front door. A few of the grimey buccaneers (aka white trash) followed us out cheering like we were actually something to cheer about. Now that I think of it, maybe we were! Anyways, long story short...that is why most of these photos are few and snapped from the car. We wanted in and out of that little town ASAP!
Original Post Office! Quite cute though, dontcha think?!
This needs to go in dream home catalog for sure! Not the house, silly, the trailer!
Yup thats it folks!
Summer home. Yours Truly. Nowhere, NV.
Yes, it's really out in the middle of the desert- surrounded by, nothing.
Smokin' me ol' pipe at Coyote Den.
