Native Foods

Calling all vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike! Although Native Foods was founded in 1994, I feel its time I share with you the only restaurant located in a yurt!
Founded by the vegan chef Tanya Petrova, who is author of two cookbooks (rumor has it a third is on its way), Tanya not only works full time as Executive Chef, but has been featured on television, publications, and radio.
Upon entering the restaurant, the front bookshelf is stacked with flyers and brochures declaring 100% organic ingredients and 100% vegan, and the truth about animal cruelty.
The menu includes a variety of fresh, 'never from a can,' dishes like "Mexican" vegan with courses labeled the "Baja Surf" or "Tijuana Tacos," or the Earth Bowls which include names like "Gandhi" Bowl, "Hollywood" bowl, "Greek" gyro. The creativity doesn't end with the names- the menu even extends it's platter to the children as well! The four native style meals include: Native Chicken Nuggets, Brontosaurus Burrito, Chimpanzee Pizza, and Freddie's Mac n Cheese!
Main course meal not enough? Native foods offers a few dairy free, cholesterol free (yes I said cholesterol free), and refined sugar free desserts to sweeten up your day! My guilty pleasure I find hard walking away from, is the Peanut Butter Parfait. The whipped creamy peanut butter filling is layered between Boogie Bar crumbles, chocolate chips, and is sweetened with agave nectar!
As of last week they are offering a free drink if you sign up for the rewards card! The reward card apparently works like other reward card systems- you buy, earn points, points earn rewards (free food, desserts, drinks, a car, a house..ok maybe not the last two. Sorry.)
