"The Slabs functions as the seasonal capital of a teeming itinerant society- a tolerant, rubber-tired culture comprising the retired, the exiled, the destitute, the perpetually unemployed. Its constitutes are men and women and children of all ages, folks on the dodge from collection agencies, relationships gone sour, the law or the IRS, Ohio winters, the middle class grind." - Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer

I am very glad to be home and writing about my lovely day.
Today I was humbled by the experience and adventure that was Salvation Mountain. I was honored to meet Leonard Knight, the 78 yr. old artist who has been hard at work on this masterpiece since 1984! YES! 1984! I was told by one of the guests that he wakes up every morning excited to paint and add to his wondrous creation. That was later confirmed when Leonard kept telling everyone how excited he was! My visit today reminded me that if nothing can prove that G0d will provide, Leonard's story is proof. The man lives in his truck and survives by donations and recycled goods! As Leonard stays faithful to his ministry- God remains faithful to Leonard.

*After watching the DVD Leonard gave me, I found it interesting to note that it is a place where architects are known to come and study it's design. They find this place interesting because technically, it should not even be standing. Salvation Mountain is a miracle that it even exists!
